Gents Competitions

Members not playing in the Competition please note play is prohibited for one hour prior to 1st official tee-time on any medal or competition.

Strokeplay

WEEKEND MEDALS AND COMPETITIONS – Start times for these competitions will be drawn within a one-hour block. The entry sheet will be available on the Club’s website (prestonfieldgolf.co.uk) from 7.00am, in the clubhouse and the Professional’s Shop from 8.00am on the Saturday 14 days prior to the Competition weekend. Members may only book for themselves. Phone bookings may be made  from 9.00am the day after the start sheet is available.Entries will close at 6:00 pm on the Thursday prior to the competition. The draw sheet will be posted on the notice board and club website. Thereafter Members obtaining a start time or changing their start time will not be entitled to play in the Competition proper but they may participate in the sweep. Start times are restricted to the period between 8.00am (7.30am between May and August) and 5.30pm. 

OPTIONAL WEDNESDAY MEDALS – Times can be booked on the starting sheet in the normal manner. Members may play their normal game on the day but between the times 4.00pm until 5.00pm it is mandatory to play in the Medal.

OPTIONAL SUNDAY MEDALS – These are normally held on the first Sunday of the month between May and September and are open to Gents, Ladies and Junior members (Juniors must have a valid Congu Handicap and must be accompanied by at least one adult). Times can be booked on the starting sheet in the normal manner. Members may play their normal game on the day.

 GENERAL – All players in medals or competitions must register and pay entry and sweep (optional) monies with the starter prior to commencing play. The Professional is the official starter. Winners should collect their sweep monies, vouchers etc., from the Professional. Scores from qualifying competitions played over any “away” course MUST be notified to the Handicap Secretary. Forms for this purpose are available from the Handicap Secretary and also on the Club’s website. Medals should be played from the white markers. Ties for trophies will be decided on the lowest score over 9-6-3-1 holes of the inward half or otherwise as the Competition & Handicap Committee may determine.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 
(STEWART SEGGIE SHIELD) 
The players returning the 16 lowest scratch scores in the Summer Meeting and Appleton Trophy qualifying rounds qualify for the Championship. A tie for the last place or places will be decided by the lowest score over 18 holes on the second round, failing which by the lowest score over the inward half of the second round or otherwise as the Competition & Handicap Committee may determine. The draw for the Match Play stages will be seeded. The leading qualifier will be awarded the FINDLAY MEDAL.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (B Section) 
(GOULD TROPHY) 
The players returning the 16 lowest scratch scores in the Summer Meeting and Appleton Trophy qualifying rounds qualify for the Championship. A tie for the last place or places will be decided by the lowest score over 18 holes on the second round,failing which by the lowest score over the inward half or otherwise as the Competition & Handicap Committee may determine. The draw for the Match Play stages will be seeded. The B Section Championship is only open to members with handicaps of between 13 and 20.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (C Section) 
(McNAUGHTON TROPHY) 
The players returning the 8 lowest scratch scores in the Summer Meeting and Appleton Trophy qualifying rounds qualify for the Championship. A tie for the last place or places will be decided by the lowest score over 18 holes on the second round,failing which by the lowest score over the inward half or otherwise as the Competition & Handicap Committee may determine. The draw for the Match Play stages will be seeded. The C Section Championship is only open to members with handicaps of 21 and over.

The Championship will be a 36 hole stroke play event played over 2 separate days and will be decided on the best overall scratch score over the 36 holes. In the event of a tie the Championship will be decided by the lowest score over 18 holes on the second round, failing which by the lowest score over the inward half of the second round or otherwise as the Competition & Handicap Committee may determine.

The Championship will be a 36 hole stroke play event played over 2 separate days and will be decided on the best overall nett score over the 36 holes. In the event of a tie the Championship will be decided by the lowest score over 18 holes on the second round, failing which by the lowest score over the inward half of the second round or otherwise as the Competition & Handicap Committee may determine.

(JUBILEE TROPHY) 
(Confined to Members of 55 years of age and over)

A tie for the last place or places will be decided by the lowest score over 18 holes on the second round, failing which by the lowest score over the inward half or otherwise as the Competition & Handicap Committee may determine. The draw for the Match Play stages will be seeded. The leading qualifier will be awarded the PRESIDENT’S MEDAL.

DICK- CUNYNGHAM CUP – Confined to members of 54 years of age and under on Competition Day. (2015 Ross Gillon)

SIVEWRIGHT – SMITH CUP  (Summer Foursomes) – Open to all  Members. (2016 Alan Dickson & Paul Frain)

JIMMY MILLAR TROPHY (Family Foursomes) – Open to all Members who are related to each other. (2016 Keith Robertson & Euan Robertson )

TAYLOR TROPHY (Mixed Foursomes Match Play) – Open to all Members.  (2015 Rachel Smith & Kevin McGhee)

DALE ROSEBOWL (Winter Greensomes) – Open to all Members. (2016 Al McEwan & J.J. O’Neill)

Entry envelopes will be available in the Clubhouse 4 weeks prior to the closing dates which will be announced shortly. Any Member with a ‘lapsed’ handicap may not enter any Hole & Hole competition.

For 2017 the Family Foursomes and Mixed Foursomes are going

to be played as a one day competition.

NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED.

All ties should be played from the white markers.
