Club Golf

Welcome to Clubgolf at Prestonfield! Since April 2012 over 100 children have had the opportunity to play and enjoy golf at Prestonfield, coached by our team of well qualified, enthusiastic coaches.  The Club Golf team, now numbers 15 volunteer qualified coaches and administrators under the excellent, enthusiastic leadership of Elizabeth Taylor.  Having done such a good job,  there are now over 70 children who have joined Prestonfield Golf Club as junior members.

 What is Clubgolf ?

The ClubGolf programme was launched in 2003 to provide every child in Scotland with an opportunity to experience golf through a really effective, well structured programme that provides development for both young people and coaches.

About the Classes

How Long Are They?

We run weekly classes of one hour duration, in ten week blocks from April to August.  The classes are taken by our PGA fully qualified volunteer Clubgolf coaches and to ensure you get lots of attention and support, we limit our class sizes.

When Does The Next Class Start?

It is anticipated the next classes will start in summer 2021.  Our email address for further information is:  proshop@pre stonfieldgolf.com

What Do We Learn?

There is a structured programme that takes you right through from how to hold a golf club, how to play different shots, understanding the game, some of the rules and how you behave on the course.

The exciting thing is that we are now busy creating some follow on levels for junior players who are ready to get out on the course and play in competitions.  Watch out for more details to come on this.

Where do the classes take place ?

We have a practice putting green and teaching area close to the clubhouse on Priestfield Road North. We also have another practice area out on the course at Peffermill Road.

Prestonfield was  awarded an “Award For All” grant to build two par 3 holes on our practice area at Peffermill Road specifically for Clubgolf coaching.

Do We Get A Chance to Play on the Course?

Yes! Towards the end of your ten week block, the coaches will usually accompany the children on the course to play a few holes for a chance to put into practise what they have learned.

Do I Need To Spend a lot of money on golf equipment ?

No! Prestonfield GC will supply all the equipment you need so you don’t need to spend a lot of money. When you start we’ll tell you what you need to bring.  We’ve found that previous Clubgolf juniors decide to get their own clubs once they know they want to continue to play and spend a bit more time on the golf course outwith the classes.

What happens after the block of classes ?

We are really keen to encourage our young golfers to continue practicing and playing outwith classes.  We offer a very reasonably priced membership for juniors.

We also run classes for children of different abilities so they get an opportunity to keep on developing their skills and progressing alongside children of similar levels.

Most importantly the children and the coaches have fun.

I am interested – what do I do next ?
