We have 2 fantastic after dinner speakers, both very funny and well known in Edinburgh and nationally.

We have a superb menu where guests make 2 choices either pork or beef and a selection of cheeses and sweet deserts will be on the table for guests to enjoy during the speeches.

Members can either pay at the bar, office or over the phone – tickets are £25 per person and can be paid cash, card or using your members card.

Guest speaker – Willie Allan MBE

Willie Allan is a superb and popular after dinner speaker. Born in Edinburgh and brought up in Dunfermline, Willie has been a PE teacher since 1984. A principal Teacher of PE at Buckhaven High School in Fife, Willie has been surrounded by sport over the years, primarily with rugby but also with golf and tennis.

Willie has been on the after dinner speaker circuit since 1992. He has performed at a variety of venues and top hotels throughout the UK however, the vast majority of his work is in the corporate market where ‘The Herald’ described him as probably the best after dinner speaker in Scotland. He is comfortable chairing a function, directing an auction, and is equally at home with a mixed audience. At a recent dinner ‘The Scotsman’ described his contribution as a virtuoso performance and ‘The Times’ stated that he was a very funny man.

Guest speaker – Iain McSporran QC

Iain McSporran QC is a passionate Burns enthusiast and he is the President of the Balerno Burns Club (Edinburgh) appointed in 2016, he is well known for delivering excellent after dinner speeches. Iain is a prosecuting lawyer and became a QC in 2016 and specialises in a range of legal topics. Iain has delivered speeches at a number of events from local schools celebrating Robert Burns Day to annual golf club dinners and national fund-raising charity events.


Braised Daube of Beef – A Succulent 8oz Braised Steak in a Guinness, Button Mushroom and Red Onion Jus

Roast Loin of Pork – Oven Roast Pork Loin served with Black Pudding, Grilled Apple and a Cream and Calvados Sauce

Desserts – a selection of both deserts will be on the table for guests to enjoy during the night

Cheese Board – A Selection of traditional Scottish and Continental Cheese served with Biscuits and a Tomato & Chilli Jam

Sweet Board – A Selection of Pick up Desserts, Salted Caramel Profiteroles, Macaroons, Mini Chocolate Eclairs and Vanilla Mille Feuille
